Cherri-Oats (aka Cheri Venturi) is known to many of you as the Wig Lady or
that the person who helps with a bad wig day. I have moved several times, but
at present I live in Destrehan Louisiana, which is only 15 minutes out of the
French Quarter.
Cherri-Oats became a character about 11 years ago . Before that I taught
school for over 25 years. My degree is in education from Marquette
University. However, my recent teaching has been in the area of clowning. I
have lectured at both COAI and WCA conventions, along with regional
conferences and alley meetings. I have been on staff at Clown Camp in
Wisconsin, Clownfest, the Very Special Arts of Indiana, The Clown Around in
Tennessee and Moose Camp.
I joined COAI as soon as I became a clown and in the last four years have
enjoyed working within the organization to further our educational goals and
to support and help direct the wishes of COAI members. As Executive Vice
President, I have worked on clarifying the Bylaws, obtaining appropriate
contracts, and working closely with the President. My most important concern
is to make the organization work for individuals as well as alleys. I have
enjoyed watching COAI grow in the last few years and know the potential it
has for the future. Please feel free to contact through my email.
