"So...you
wanna be a clown?" I've heard Master Clown "Frosty" Glen Little sing that little
song on more than one occasion. So, I never would have dreamed that it would be
possible - me? - A clown?
I first became interested in clowning when I met Ed Birchell (Ho-Ho the Clown)
of Oklahoma City back in 1982. The memories of watching this statewide celebrity
took me back to my own childhood. It was a pivotal moment in my life that would
lead me to discover this so-called "passion" we call clowning.
So - ten years later, after attending a two-week course on clowning offered at
Central Presbyterian Church in Shawnee, Oklahoma - my journey began. I
joined several local alleys in Oklahoma City, learning as much as I possibly
could. Then, in 1999, I was introduced to Pricilla Mooseburger, aka Tricia -
Bothun, Glen "Frosty" Little, Dave Mitchell, Cheri Venturi and Rex Nolen. My
life,
as they say, has never been the same. The technical skills that I learned
through each of them took me to a new, higher level and it also taught me that
as long as you are coach-able - you can be teachable - and the sky's the limit!
Some of my "best" experiences have been:
Mooseburger Camp in Minnesota for 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005 where I've
met & studied with Joe Barney, Karen Bell, Mark Renfro - just to name a few!
